A series that
surely, we all saw in our childhood and that we still see is "El Chavo del
8". In the Mexican series, the character that most characterizes gender
violence is "professor Jirafales". He is the professor of a school
and he is in love with "Mrs Florinda”, who is a lady who lives in the
neighborhood where the plot of the series develops. When the professor visits her, maleness and
stereotypes are always seen about the role of men and women. For example, he always
gives her flowers and he always tells her that he will enter through the door
behind her, just because she is woman. Also, in the series there is no woman
who works, only men work or seek employment. And I was remembering a chapter
when the boys didn´t let "La Chilindrina" plays football. So, if we
look at small details we find a lot of gender violence.

Also in the character of "la bruja del 71" there are stereotypes, the show makes it look like a single woman is some kind of witch and that is always angry.
ResponderEliminarIn fac, in one scene, the Profesor Jirafales makes a scene of jealousy to Doña Florida and I don't remember exactly what happened but I remember it was very violent
ResponderEliminarI used to watch it a lot but we can't deny the gender violence. I never realized that no woman worked and it's sad that we couldn't notice these things before, when we were kids.
